Fertilizer/Seed Application

Columbia Basin Helicopters, Inc. is able to fertilize and seed with our Bell UH1H, Hiller 12E Soloy, or OH58A helicopters. We have the necessary support equipment; conveyor belts and bulk fertilizer trucks with the capability to weigh each load. All of our helicopters also have load cells to determine product weight.

We utilize the 80 cubic foot Isolair fertilizer bucket with our Bell UH1H. There is an electronic sensor toward the bottom of the bucket that will trip a a light in the cockpit notifiying the pilot when the bucket is empty.

Our buckets are able to be necked down to work with fertilizer or seed at low application rates per acre. For ultra low applications, we utilize an air blower system. The air blower systems helps ensure the product being applied will not be damages when hit by a spinner from conventional buckets. The system attaches directly to the helicopter airframe which allows us to apply product over congested areas.

Columbia Basin uses the SATLOC DGPS swath guidance system with moving map and light bar to ensure application accuracy.

Rat Bait Application

Columbia Basin Helicopters, Inc. applies rat bait utilizing the same application equipment used in aerial fertilization and seeding. Our OH-58A is shown with our blower system. Our pilots have extensive DGPS experience to help ensure a complete and uniform application.
